Strangers Stopping Strangers Just to Shake Their Hands

Today, I went to a local health fair in the Atlantic City area.  I was invited to represent my organization at this event and I did so with pride. As you know, I am a registered dietitian and have followed this path because I truly want to affect people's lives in a positive manner. It was a wonderful event and I was surrounded by people, who like me, want to lead people toward making healthy life choices. The focus was on helping to educate individuals on two of this country's greatest health problems: diabetes and hypertension or high blood pressure.

As health professionals, we often take for granted the level of our own knowledge. When we take a step back, we can often see how much of a positive impact we can make as clinicians. More importantly, we can have an even greater impact on our friends, our neighbors and fellow men and women. I want to make a difference in this world. In a nutshell, that is why I became a registered dietitian. I want to change the world; one precious life at a time. It is such a great feeling to be able to provide many individuals with education and knowledge to those who otherwise would have little access to these services. Many, many people often fall through the cracks. These are the individuals who need our help and our services the most.

It was a wonderful affair and I met some really cool people in the process, including a few of my colleagues I did not even know existed.

To the Dead Heads out there: Did you think that I could possibly have a post with a Robert Hunter lyric and not include a great show? Of course not. This one comes from the Hollywood Palladium in L.A, and it is bumping. My absolute favorite part of the show is the transition from The Other One>Me and My Uncle> The Other One. Bobby is almost screaming the words in this song! I was so excited that I ran into my bedroom; grabbed my guitar, and played along with several of the songs! When I have a good morning or afternoon, I always try to listen to The Dead, it just makes my day that much better!

I highly recommend that you listen to The Other One, Me and My Uncle, The Other One sequence! It is raw and pure awesomeness! It got me jumping and I think it will do the same to you! Regarding my rye breads, I have baked a few times, but I have to upload the pictures from Kelly's computer.  I promise that they are coming soon.  So stick around for some more Rye fun! I also just bought some barley flakes that I plan on using in a few new rye breads! I am thinking that the 80% Rye with Boiling Rye Flour Soaker would be rather good with about 10% grain weight coming from pressed barley. In the words of Jaco "I got some fresh ideas".

Bake On!
